Description

  • Plan, execute, and report on developmental and operational flight test and evaluation activities.
  • Develop test approaches to achieve T&E goals and guide the completion of test activities.
  • Support new aircraft development with emphasis on electronics, avionics, propulsion, flight characteristics, rugged design, and quality at scale.
  • Lead or support test planning, define measures of success, and coordinate test execution.
  • Conduct ground and flight testing for system and subsystem hardware and software.
  • Analyze test performance and data to inform future development.
  • Produce high-quality test reports and documentation.
  • Work with engineers and test specialists to manage and coordinate testing across the UK, US, and Europe.
  • Operate within civil and military approval schemes for test and evaluation activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an applicable engineering field.
  • 3+ years of flight test experience.
  • Working knowledge of UAS operating rules and regulations in the UK.
  • Experience designing and executing rigorous test protocols for new and developmental systems.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Thorough understanding of COTS and bespoke UAS technologies.
  • Experience with internal combustion, electric, and/or hybrid powertrains.
  • Knowledge of flight control systems and flight dynamics of small, medium, and/or large rotorcraft.
  • Knowledge of EO/IR/Lidar sensor payloads and test planning for maneuverable rotorcraft.
  • Understanding of engineering quality concepts, principles, and codes.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and manage multiple project phases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and travel as needed for testing.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to immediately obtain and maintain a UK security clearance.
  • Formal T&E training at a recognized Test Pilot School (preferred).
  • Experience in developmental and operational test and evaluation organizations (preferred).
  • Direct experience with UAS design or operational deployment (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of UAV testing methodologies and data analysis (preferred).
  • UK General VLOS Certificate (preferred).
  • Remote pilot experience on VTOL UAS (preferred).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (preferred).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript (preferred).
