Description

  • Develop low-level firmware and software for microcontrollers, including reusable device drivers and system-level features.
  • Own complex firmware features within an embedded system.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries.
  • Select microcontrollers and peripherals and review schematics with the electrical engineering team.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  • Manage involvement across multiple projects at different stages.
  • Support reliable and robust fielding of capabilities on operationally relevant timelines.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in firmware or embedded software development, with a focus on embedded systems.
  • Strong C programming ability for embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors.
  • Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
  • Debugging experience with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, and Ethernet.
  • Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and detailed requirements quickly.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems with little oversight.
  • Clear communication and organizational skills, including documentation and training material.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced C/C++ expertise is preferred.
  • Experience with languages such as Rust and Python is preferred.
  • Experience with multiple microcontroller cores such as ARM, AVR, MSP430, and PIC is preferred.
  • Experience with satellite mission autonomy, including fault isolation and recovery systems, is preferred.
