Description

  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering technician team on harness and PCBA build and rework.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the physical EE lab and maintain tools, instruments, and equipment.
  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and procure lab tools and test equipment as needed.
  • Identify process improvements and lead implementation of changes to improve lab performance.
  • Anticipate future equipment, tools, and lab space needs to support project and business requirements.
  • Plan and direct assigned tasks and project activities to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Perform quality inspection and verification of work completed by the team according to industry standards.
  • Train team members on proper equipment use and lab procedures.
  • Support engineering activities by building prototypes, sub-assemblies, and feasibility test units.
  • Conduct repairs, reworks, testing, troubleshooting, and fabrication of PCBAs, cable harnesses, test equipment, and harnesses.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or engineering development lab environment.
  • Prior leadership experience in an engineering lab environment.
  • Ability to read and understand complex PCBA schematics, cable assembly drawings, and test procedures.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting prototype electro-mechanical hardware, including PCBAs, cables, wiring harnesses, and assemblies.
  • Experience with electrical prototyping processes, including PCBA rework.
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, crimping, and cable assembly to IPC standards.
  • Ability to hand solder PCBAs per J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-7711.
  • Wire harness experience in accordance with IPC-A-620 standards.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components, connectors, hand tools, and crimping equipment.
  • Basic electrical understanding and familiarity with test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Preferred: Minimum 8 years of experience as an Engineering Technician in a developmental lab environment.
  • Preferred: 5 years of prior leadership experience in an engineering lab environment.
  • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Preferred: Strong understanding of PCBs, PCBAs, prototyping, and assembly techniques.
  • Preferred: Experience with task management software such as Trello or JIRA.
  • Preferred: Experience with electrical CAD tools such as Altium, Rapid Harness, or other EWIS software.
  • Preferred: Current IPC certification (CIS, CIT, or MIT).
  • Preferred: Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Preferred: Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs unassisted.
