Description

  • Serve as Anduril's primary legal expert on cybersecurity law and provide strategic counsel to executive leadership, the CISO, and business teams.
  • Advise on government contract cybersecurity requirements, including FAR/DFARS clauses, CMMC, NIST 800-171, and agency-specific security obligations.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft cybersecurity terms in government contracts, commercial agreements, teaming arrangements, and supplier contracts.
  • Design, implement, and improve the company's cybersecurity compliance program, policies, internal controls, playbooks, and templates.
  • Support CMMC assessments and certifications, including coordination with C3PAOs and review of security documentation such as SSPs and POA&Ms.
  • Lead the legal response to cybersecurity incidents, including notification analysis, forensic coordination, privilege management, and executive communications.
  • Partner with IT Security, Engineering, Product, Compliance, Contracts, and Business Development on cybersecurity-related issues and requirements.
  • Support cybersecurity due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic transactions.
  • Monitor emerging cybersecurity laws, regulations, executive orders, and agency guidance and assess their business impact.
  • Advise on cybersecurity risk management, including insurance coverage, third-party risks, and risk acceptance decisions.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • DC or CA Bar strongly preferred.
  • 8-12 years of legal experience with substantial focus on cybersecurity law.
  • Experience at a law firm, government agency, or in-house at a technology or defense company.
  • Deep knowledge of government contractor cybersecurity requirements, including FAR/DFARS, CMMC, NIST 800-171, and federal breach notification obligations.
  • Proven experience advising on cybersecurity compliance programs, incident response, and security-related investigations.
  • Experience negotiating cybersecurity terms in government and commercial agreements, including audit rights, liability allocation, and indemnification.
  • Strong understanding of information security concepts, including network security, encryption, access controls, threat intelligence, and security frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear legal advice.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and business acumen with a practical, solution-oriented approach.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access to export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to Anduril facilities, customer locations, and industry conferences.
  • Combination of law firm and in-house experience, especially as the primary cybersecurity legal owner, is preferred.
  • Experience with government cybersecurity audits, assessments, and investigations, such as DCMA DIBCAC reviews and CMMC assessments, is preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with the DoD cybersecurity ecosystem, including DIB programs, DCSA requirements, and DoD CIO guidance, is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud computing, SaaS, and AI/ML systems is preferred.
  • Background in incident response involving data breaches, ransomware events, or supply chain compromises is preferred.
  • Understanding of threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and SOC functions is preferred.
  • Cybersecurity or information security certifications such as CISSP, CIPP, or CISM, or willingness to obtain, is preferred.
  • Experience engaging regulators such as CISA, FBI, DoD Cyber Crime Center, or state attorneys general is preferred.
  • Experience with international operations and data transfers is preferred.
  • Pre-law school technical background or experience working with engineers and security practitioners is preferred.
  • Strong interest in defense technology and autonomous systems security is preferred.
  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance that can be maintained is preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are a plus.
