Description

  • Review and recommend improvements to the Student Concern Response Team framework, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Advise on best practices for behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and student concern response in higher education, including online settings.
  • Refine SCRT scope, reporting thresholds, triage protocols, escalation pathways, and response coordination procedures.
  • Recommend case documentation, record retention, confidentiality, and information-sharing practices aligned with laws and institutional policy.
  • Develop reporting guidance and communication materials for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Facilitate planning discussions and implementation meetings with SCRT members and institutional stakeholders.
  • Advise on coordination with student conduct, academic support, emergency response, and compliance functions.
  • Help identify training topics, workflows, and resource referral processes.
  • Recommend methods for identifying escalating behavior patterns and assessing levels of concern or risk.
  • Deliver written recommendations, implementation guidance, and summary materials as requested.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with behavioral intervention teams, CARE teams, student concern response teams, threat assessment teams, or similar higher education risk response models.
  • Knowledge of higher education best practices for student behavioral intervention, threat assessment, crisis response coordination, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience developing or advising on institutional protocols, workflows, policies, or response procedures related to student safety and behavioral concerns.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, confidentiality, privacy, and higher education information-sharing practices.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and senior institutional leadership.
  • Ability to provide practical recommendations for an online or primarily online educational environment.
  • Experience supporting online-serving colleges or universities.
  • Familiarity with ad hoc or low-frequency behavioral intervention team models.
  • Experience conducting training or professional development for faculty and staff on student concern identification and reporting.
  • Knowledge of higher education risk assessment methodologies and case management practices.
  • Experience in student affairs, compliance, counseling, campus safety, or related higher education functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in higher education, student affairs, counseling, psychology, social work, public administration, law, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in higher education behavioral intervention, student support services, threat assessment, student conduct, counseling, risk management, campus safety, or related areas.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant consulting experience may be considered.
