Description

  • Curate and procure open educational resources, open-access materials, and other library collections aligned with ALU’s academic model.
  • Develop and manage scalable systems for accessing library resources across a distributed, hybrid, and peer-led learning environment.
  • Administer digital collections such as e-books, e-journals, and multimedia archives to improve discoverability and navigation.
  • Negotiate with publishers, suppliers, and external organizations to maximize access within resource-optimized budgets.
  • Partner with faculty, learning coaches, and instructional designers to embed library resources into LMS platforms such as Canvas or Moodle.
  • Design and maintain library resource guides tailored to course modules and learning challenges.
  • Advise and train academic staff on digital copyright, Creative Commons licensing, and alternative content delivery methods.
  • Support student capstone projects and faculty research, including research data management, data curation, and repository submissions.
  • Train students and staff on text/data mining and analysis tools such as SPSS, NVivo, and Atlas.ti.
  • Define, implement, and update the institutional digital and information literacy framework, including workshops and learning modules on digital citizenship and online safety.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as generative AI tools and virtual learning environments into library workflows and research support.
  • Collaborate with IT to improve the digital user experience, troubleshoot proxy access issues, and ensure seamless single sign-on authentication.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Library and Information Science, Knowledge Management, or a related discipline with deep technical experience.
  • ALA-accredited Master’s in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) or an advanced degree in Information Science or Instructional Design preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in an academic, research, or highly corporate library environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing digital scholarship platforms or educational technology.
  • Proven proficiency with learning management systems and modern digital asset management software.
  • Familiarity with SPSS, NVivo, or Atlas.ti, as well as digital metadata standards.
  • Comfort exploring and setting guardrails for emerging digital platforms such as AI search assistants and digital archives.
  • Ability to think from first principles, move fast, and pivot effectively in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong critical and creative thinking skills for building information literacy frameworks in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to mediate between technical systems and diverse user needs.
