Description

  • Set the technical direction and architecture for the team’s services, including long-term trade-off decisions.
  • Own the roadmap and delivery by translating ambiguous business goals into sequenced engineering work.
  • Lead day-to-day execution, including planning, unblocking engineers, and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Maintain code and design quality through reviews, design documentation, and hands-on contributions.
  • Own production reliability, latency, correctness, on-call health, and incident follow-through.
  • Hire, onboard, mentor, and support the performance and career growth of engineers.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, compliance, clearing, and other engineering teams.
  • Write code, participate in design reviews, and resolve production issues as part of a hands-on leadership role.

Requirements

  • Senior- or staff-level software engineering experience with formal or technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience developing trading or exchange systems, including OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, or quantitative trading platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, provide feedback, and raise team capability.
  • Track record of delivering complex systems through effective scoping, sequencing, and prioritization.
  • Programming experience across low- and high-level languages such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Experience optimizing low-latency, high-throughput systems and working with messaging queues or brokers.
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, concurrency control, and system design.
  • Experience designing service-oriented architectures, abstractions, and object-oriented data models.
  • Experience developing and implementing Order Management Systems and Risk Management Systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including with non-engineering stakeholders, and comfort working in ambiguous startup environments.
  • Preferred: experience building engineering teams, owning production brokerage systems, or developing algorithmic trading systems.
  • Preferred: knowledge of FIX, financial markets, financial ledgers, observability, cloud platforms such as GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and remote-first collaboration.
