Description

  • Maintain and improve the Redpanda-based event streaming infrastructure.
  • Develop replacement systems for Alpaca’s authentication and authorization services.
  • Create event-driven solutions to replace batch processing across internal systems.
  • Take ownership of tasks from requirements gathering through implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions for scalable and reliable systems.
  • Collaborate with other teams to improve system integrations and overall platform behavior.
  • Maintain software quality through testing and test coverage.
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs.
  • Support engineering projects through on-call coverage when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience writing code in strongly typed languages.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Go.
  • Experience with Kubernetes beyond the basics and ability to create Helm charts.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes security best practices, supported by prior job experience or certifications.
  • Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Prior startup experience and comfort working in environments with technical debt and limited process.
  • At least 3 years of experience working on systems at scale.
  • Experience with Kafka or Redpanda (nice to have).
  • Knowledge of JWT, OpenID Connect, SAML, or authentication systems such as Keycloak (nice to have).
  • Experience with Argo CD, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform, or Google Kubernetes Engine (nice to have).
  • Experience with Grafana observability tools such as Prometheus and Tempo, and familiarity with PromQL (nice to have).
  • Experience with FlatBuffers, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, or RESTful API design (nice to have).
