Description

  • Own and advance major subsystems that power the core guest booking journey, including the main product details page and pricing and availability flows.
  • Design the future state of technical systems by translating product goals and existing system constraints into short- and long-term technical tradeoffs.
  • Lead engineers inside and outside the team in building and delivering technical solutions.
  • Mentor peers and other engineers to grow technical, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
  • Develop new and refined product features while supporting day-to-day operations of the platform.
  • Identify patterns and build systems that improve development efficiency and quality over time.
  • Perform and present technical and product deep dives to stakeholders.
  • Participate early in product and UX requirement development with designers, product managers, and other partners.
  • Champion technical quality across design, code review, and production operations.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams including Search, Checkout, Reservations, Listings, Payments, Tax, Cities, Trust, and others.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
  • Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures.
  • Strong judgment in balancing short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.
  • Strong understanding of how backend systems are reflected in customer-facing UX.
  • An end-to-end mindset that transcends team boundaries and supports globally optimal solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teams across the engineering organization.
  • Passion for efficiency, availability, system quality, and user experience.
  • US remote eligibility, with occasional office visits or offsites as needed.
  • Ability to work from an eligible U.S. state; certain states are excluded for this employment entity.
  • Experience using AI to build products or improve engineering workflows is a plus.

Benefits

  • US-remote eligible position.
  • Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
  • Base pay range of $212,000 to $265,000 USD.
  • Potential eligibility for bonus compensation.
