Description

  • Lead and drive CSxAI (Customer Support x AI) initiatives by adopting generative AI technologies to enable intelligent, scalable customer support experiences.
  • Lead and guide applied science and machine learning teams, applying agile practices across the AI product development lifecycle from incubation to production.
  • Design, build, fine-tune and optimize large language models and related systems (e.g., RAG/search, LLM evaluation and testing automation, feedback-based learning and guardrails).
  • Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to explore, experiment, build, and continuously improve machine learning models and pipelines.
  • Productionize and operate ML models and pipelines at scale for both batch and real-time use cases, ensuring low-latency serving and ongoing model quality upkeep.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, operations, and data scientists to identify business impact opportunities, refine requirements, and drive engineering decisions.
  • Leverage third-party and in-house ML tools and infrastructure to develop reusable, high-performing ML systems that enable fast model development and deployment.
  • Define and drive architectural requirements for ML infrastructure and build robust testing frameworks for agent behavior validation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience building, testing, and shipping AI models and products from inception to production, including 2+ years working with Generative AI.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and guiding applied science or machine learning teams as a senior individual contributor.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with ML best practices (e.g., training/serving skew minimization, A/B testing, feature engineering, feature/model selection).
  • Experience with algorithms such as neural networks/deep learning and optimization, and domains including NLP, computer vision, personalization, search/recommendation, marketplace optimization, or anomaly detection.
  • Experience applying AI technologies to customer support systems and related applications.
  • Proven experience with the full AI product lifecycle at scale and applying agile practices in applied ML/AI projects.
  • Experience building testing frameworks for agent behavior validation and driving architectural requirements on ML infrastructure.
  • Must reside in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. (or the hiring Airbnb entity) has a registered presence; role is US - Remote Eligible and may require occasional office or offsite attendance.

Benefits

  • Base pay range $244,000–$305,000 USD.
  • Role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and other company benefits.
  • Eligible for Employee Travel Credits.
  • US-Remote eligible role with flexibility for occasional office work or offsite attendance as agreed with manager.
