Description

  • Lead data-driven roadmap decisions for the Fraud & Safety Defense Platform working group.
  • Build business insights and reporting tools to detect and mitigate potential fraud behavior across Airbnb.
  • Develop data models for trust and safety entities such as hosts, guests, agents, and other platform participants.
  • Define and evaluate key metrics for unstructured problem spaces, including metrics for machine learning model performance.
  • Influence experimentation and measurement strategies, including power analysis, exit criteria, and causal inference approaches.
  • Create data narratives and communicate findings to product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, operations analysts, data analysts, data scientists, designers, and operations agents.
  • Use Airbnb’s data and machine learning infrastructure to grow measurement capabilities within the organization.
  • Support the end-to-end trusted user journey across pre-trip, on-trip, and post-trip experiences.
  • Help improve product defenses while minimizing friction for community members and business operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in business analytics.
  • Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field is a plus, such as Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or Operations Research.
  • Experience supporting trust and safety, or working closely with policy, content moderation, or security teams.
  • Expert-level SQL skills.
  • Expertise in at least one programming language for data analysis, such as Python or R.
  • Experience with non-experimental causal inference methods, experimentation, and machine learning techniques, ideally in a multi-sided platform setting.
  • Working knowledge of schema design and high-dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience with an ETL framework such as Airflow.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-growth, and complex environments with minimal planning, direction, or supervision.
  • US remote eligibility with the requirement to live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $157,000 to $185,000 USD.
  • Potential eligibility for bonus compensation.

  • US-remote eligible role.
  • Occasional office or offsite attendance as needed, with manager agreement.
