Description

  • Set technical direction for core replenishment research and development across demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and decision-making policy.
  • Model complex perishability and supply chain problems, including inventory decay, promotions, price elasticity, and uncertainty.
  • Research, implement, and rigorously validate improvements to the core replenishment system.
  • Develop solutions for multi-stage and multi-echelon inventory optimization problems.
  • Write rigorously tested, scalable code and drive solutions from research through production.
  • Lead research and development efforts for new product and business challenges.
  • Mentor scientists and engineers, raise experimental standards, and review designs and results.
  • Translate business requirements into constrained optimization problems and communicate technical concepts clearly to product teams.
  • Push improvements to AI capabilities in both customer-facing products and internal scientist workflows.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • For candidates with an MS, 8+ years of industry experience; for candidates with a PhD, 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience researching and building systems that support large-scale decision making under uncertainty.
  • Background in inventory optimization, supply chain management, network optimization, forecasting, game theory, decision analysis, stochastic optimization, approximate dynamic programming, or related areas is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex mathematical ideas in plain English.
  • Ability to independently deliver high-quality software implementations in the Python data stack, such as numpy, torch, and pandas.
  • Prior Python experience is not required.
  • Understanding of ML Platform is a nice-to-have.
  • Passion for mentorship is a nice-to-have.
  • This position is not eligible for company sponsorship.
