Description

  • Break down larger platform projects into deliverable tasks and ship work in multiple phases.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, and trade-off decisions.
  • Support the operations and availability of platform artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and escalating issues when needed.
  • Participate in on-call and other “keep the lights on” efforts for the team’s systems.
  • Contribute to team growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process.
  • Build and improve end-to-end feature workflows, including feature creation, exploration, serving, and backfilling infrastructure.
  • Own platform improvements that affect data storage, availability, visibility, and reliability.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to turn simple business problems into solutions that span multiple software components.
  • Ability to write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
  • Comfort navigating a large codebase, debugging other engineers’ code, and providing code review feedback.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience taking ownership of personal growth and proactively seeking feedback (preferred).
