Description

  • Break larger projects into smaller tasks and deliver them in phased milestones.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners and stakeholders across the product development lifecycle.
  • Articulate technical constraints and help evaluate risks and trade-offs in technical decisions.
  • Support the operations and availability of team-owned systems by creating and monitoring metrics.
  • Escalate incidents or issues when needed and participate in on-call and keep-the-lights-on support.
  • Contribute to team growth and development by participating in the interview process.
  • Write clear, well-tested, extensible code for backend and distributed systems.
  • Debug code and provide feedback to other engineers through code reviews.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to translate a simple business problem into a multi-component technical solution.
  • Experience writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
  • Comfort navigating a large codebase, debugging other engineers’ code, and performing code reviews.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Experience taking ownership of personal growth and proactively seeking feedback.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Base salary range of $142,000–$192,000 USD per year in all other U.S. states.
