Description

  • Own and deliver quarterly team goals while guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and delivery to balance technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues and lead efforts to resolve them.
  • Support the operation and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call and keep-the-lights-on work.
  • Set and improve code review and design standards, and advocate for those standards through writing and tech talks.
  • Develop team talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
  • Help build and improve platforms, workflows, and guardrails for developer productivity and continuous delivery.
  • Support engineering teams in releasing independently through automation, standard patterns, predictable rollouts, and resilient recovery mechanisms.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • Experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building or evolving CI/CD, deployment, or release automation systems across multiple engineering teams.
  • Comfort working on shared developer infrastructure and defining platform interfaces, templates, or guardrails.
  • Experience defining a technical plan for a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
  • Ability to make significant changes in a large codebase while using tools and practices that enable safe delivery.
  • Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback-seeking from managers, teammates, and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
