Description

  • Own and deliver quarterly team goals, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Identify and advocate for improvements across project, process, technology, and business areas, and lead efforts to resolve them.
  • Support system operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in keep-the-lights-on and on-call work.
  • Set and improve code review and design standards, and promote them through writing and tech talks.
  • Provide feedback, guidance, and day-to-day support to develop talent on the team.
  • Ship new code to production on a two-week sprint cadence and measure its impact on users and company financials.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
  • Experience building highly available distributed systems using Python, Kotlin, or similar languages.
  • Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience defining technical plans for significant feature or system delivery with simple, extensible design.
  • Ability to make significant changes in a large codebase and build tools/practices to do so safely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and a habit of proactively seeking feedback.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Must be based in Spain; visa sponsorship is available for this role.
