Description

  • Design, build, and operate high-performance backend services across the App Foundations portfolio.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features and stability work, from technical design through launch and post-launch operations.
  • Improve reliability, observability, and on-call practices for Tier-0 systems such as Notifications and LMS.
  • Contribute to the LLM inference platform, including model routing, provider integrations, batch and async inference, and cost attribution.
  • Build AI-native internal tools and workflow automations that improve team operations.
  • Mentor engineers, review technical designs and pull requests, and serve as a subject matter expert for owned systems.
  • Partner with product managers, TPMs, and other platform teams to deliver cross-team initiatives.
  • Participate in hiring by writing interview questions, running interview loops, and helping recruit engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building and operating production services at scale.
  • 4+ years of experience with relevant stacks such as Python/Django and/or Go, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
  • 3+ years supporting enterprise-class customers in production, including SLO ownership, on-call, and incident response.
  • 2+ years of system design experience with the ability to design, document, and deliver cross-team architectures.
  • Proven experience leading multi-quarter projects end-to-end, including design, implementation, launch, and post-launch operations.
  • Daily use of AI coding tools, with specific examples of using AI to improve workflows beyond code generation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate asynchronously with remote stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production, including provider APIs, model routing, evals, batch inference, or cost/quota tooling (preferred).
  • Experience with notification delivery systems, licensing/entitlement platforms, or other widely used internal platforms (preferred).
  • Experience building AI agents or automations that replace meaningful manual work (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring engineers and acting as a tech lead on a small squad (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $179,800 to $258,500 USD.
  • Eligibility for bonus or incentive compensation.
  • Equity compensation may be available.
