Description

  • Lead enterprise cybersecurity architecture and engineering activities across the VA environment.
  • Translate mission, business, cybersecurity, regulatory, and customer requirements into secure technical architectures and implementation guidance.
  • Direct architecture reviews, risk and gap analyses, threat modeling, and security assessments for new, existing, and modernized systems.
  • Apply Zero Trust, defense-in-depth, least privilege, and secure-by-design principles across enterprise and solution architectures.
  • Develop and maintain security reference architectures, solution architectures, security patterns, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Guide secure modernization and adoption of cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, DLP, cryptography, PQC, quantum computing, and AI technologies.
  • Support security requirements baselines, traceability, Federal A&A, authorization to operate, continuous monitoring, and risk-management activities.
  • Ensure alignment with NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, HIPAA, VA policies, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, mentor security and engineering personnel, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Present technical findings, risks, recommendations, and architectural decisions to executives, Government stakeholders, and technical teams; travel onsite up to two visits as needed.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of enterprise security architecture or information security experience with a large company or government agency comparable in size and scope to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
  • Advanced IT-related degree may substitute for up to five years of required experience.
  • Expertise in project management, security architecture, security engineering, and translating customer requirements for technical teams.
  • Experience advancing legacy and emerging health IT architectures, including cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, PQC, DLP, cryptography, quantum computing, and AI.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity risk management and Enterprise Architecture tools.
  • Experience guiding architecture tools and processes, such as SABSA.
  • Strong analytical and research skills for complex cybersecurity, architecture, engineering, and process problems.
  • Experience conducting architecture design reviews, trade-off analyses, and requirements, risk, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to create comprehensive IT system diagrams and documentation, including network topology.
  • Expertise with Federal security frameworks and standards, including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, and HIPAA; preferred credentials include a relevant master’s degree and certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCISO, SecurityX/CASP+, or CCNP Security.

  • Salary range of $103,060.84–$158,000.
