Description

  • Develop and refine strategies for acquiring research data from scientific laboratory instruments.
  • Engineer and operationalize custom file parsers for diverse instrument output formats, including .xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, and proprietary vendor binaries.
  • Architect and implement robust data models, scalable data pipelines, unit and integration tests, and modular utility libraries.
  • Perform comparative analysis of datasets from similar instruments or workflows to design shared, extensible data model components.
  • Create visualizations, reports, and interactive dashboards using Streamlit, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, and similar tools.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to understand technical products and communicate progress effectively.
  • Take ownership of project delivery and ensure high-quality execution of data engineering work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building solutions as a Data Engineer or in a similar field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in Python and SQL with a focus on data.
  • Experience with data plotting and dashboarding tools such as Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and confidence in project delivery ownership.
  • Ability to quickly understand highly technical products and communicate effectively with product management and engineering.
  • Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field, or more than 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech scientific data engineering, data modeling, or data analytics.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices in cloud environments is preferred.
  • Some React experience is preferred.
  • Passion for data problems and using AI/LLMs to generate creative ideas is preferred.
