Description

  • Create gameplay, AI, and scripted animations using keyframe and augmented mocap techniques.
  • Develop high-quality gameplay animations that match the game’s visual style and the animation director’s vision.
  • Implement and optimize animations in Unreal Engine.
  • Work closely with programmers and designers to support multiple features and refine the animation pipeline.
  • Collaborate with senior animators and cross-disciplinary teams to integrate animations into gameplay and AI systems.
  • Review animation work with the gameplay team and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Problem-solve, debug, and optimize animation systems to ensure smooth gameplay experiences.
  • Estimate task timelines and meet deadlines for assigned work.
  • Research reference materials, document findings, and share knowledge to support animation development.
  • Mentor, coach, and train junior animators.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior Animator on a AAA title.
  • Strong skills in keyframe and stylized 3D animation using Maya and/or MotionBuilder.
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine for animation implementation and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of character performance, form, gesture, and silhouette for player characters and AI.
  • Excellent understanding of anatomy and caricature.
  • Experience animating human bipedal figures, organic forms, quadrupeds, and mechanical objects.
  • Experience creating and maintaining gameplay and AI systems related to video game animation.
  • Experience structuring and maintaining animation processes such as rigging or prototyping.
  • Experience working with motion capture data and editing it.
  • Experience with hand-key facial animation and tools such as Jali.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, ambiguity, and fast-changing priorities.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English for candidates located in Quebec.

  • Competitive base salary ranging from $100,200 to $148,320 per year in California at start of employment.
