Description

  • Own daily operations across MongoDB, Amazon DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Amazon Redshift.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, assessing application compatibility and query behavior changes.
  • Profile workloads, analyze explain plans, and optimize queries and indexes.
  • Run pre-deployment schema and data migrations with verification and rollback procedures.
  • Manage versioned migrations through Git, pull requests, and GitHub Actions CI.
  • Handle customer data extracts, corrections, reports, and deletion requests with approvals and audit trails.
  • Maintain Redshift reporting access over Apache Iceberg tables on S3, including schemas, grants, and performance.
  • Own backups, point-in-time restores, failover, and scheduled recovery rehearsals.
  • Manage database access, secrets rotation, and compliance-focused access reviews.
  • Build monitoring and alerting, respond to incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and automate DBA work with Python or Bash.
  • Collaborate with Development, Customer Success, ML, and DevSecOps teams and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience administering production databases.
  • Production experience with MongoDB or Amazon DocumentDB, including replica sets, indexing, TTL, and upgrades.
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL and strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift or comparable analytical engines such as Athena, Trino, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
  • Experience with production upgrades, schema and data migrations, query tuning, backups, restores, replication, and tested recovery procedures.
  • Strong AWS database experience, including RDS or Aurora, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency in Python or Bash, Git, and CI-based change workflows.
  • Experience handling PII and customer data under SOC 2, GDPR, or similar requirements.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation; role is remote and based in India.
  • Preferred: Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Athena, Liquibase, Flyway, MongoDB Atlas, Kafka, CDC, Kubernetes, Terraform, regulated SaaS, or relevant database certifications.
