Description

  • Define the data platform vision, roadmap, architecture, and technical strategy.
  • Own architectural decisions across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, serving, governance, and observability.
  • Establish engineering standards for pipelines, data contracts, infrastructure, and deployment.
  • Manage, mentor, hire, and develop data platform engineers while supporting career growth and performance.
  • Oversee reliable, scalable data pipelines, workflows, monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and incident response.
  • Lead platform migrations, modernization, automation, and self-service initiatives.
  • Establish access controls, data protection, governance, lineage, discoverability, and ownership boundaries.
  • Remain hands-on with architecture reviews, prototyping, critical initiatives, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into prioritized technical initiatives and communicate decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with application engineering, analytics, data science, product, security, and infrastructure teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, or data architecture.
  • 2+ years of experience managing, mentoring, or leading data engineering teams.
  • Experience designing and operating production-grade data platforms and cloud architectures.
  • Strong experience with data orchestration, transformation frameworks, and pipeline development.
  • Strong understanding of data security, access controls, governance, and data contracts.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with people leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Spark, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow, or BigQuery.
  • Experience with AWS services including Redshift, S3, IAM, EKS, Glue, ECR, or DMS preferred.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Infrastructure as Code, machine learning or LLM platforms, semantic layers, or data interfaces preferred.

Benefits

  • US base salary of $140,000–$220,000.
  • Additional compensation may include bonus, commission, equity, and other benefits.
