Description

  • Lead a team of engineers and own both delivery and team development.
  • Develop engineers through regular 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and candid feedback.
  • Build future leadership by coaching tech leads, senior engineers, and staff-level ICs.
  • Write and review code and contribute as a hands-on technical leader.
  • Drive architectural and technical design decisions with senior ICs.
  • Maintain engineering standards through pull-request review and a healthy release process.
  • Own team commitments, planning, prioritization, and delivery cadence.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and Product team on scope, sequencing, tradeoffs, and roadmap direction.
  • Translate business objectives into clear engineering context for the team.
  • Own hiring for the team, including interviewing, decision-making, and maintaining the hiring bar.
  • Communicate effectively upward, downward, and cross-functionally with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles with active coding responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience building cloud-based SaaS products in production on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience owning availability, cost, and customer-facing product surface areas.
  • API-first product mindset.
  • Strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery.
  • Deep technical fluency in a team’s primary stack, with the ability to read, write, and review code at a senior level.
  • Track record of visibly improving an engineering team’s delivery velocity, technical quality, or overall caliber.
  • Strong philosophy on how high-performing engineering teams operate, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making.
  • Excellent judgment under pressure and comfort making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Direct, candid communication skills and the ability to give and receive hard feedback.
  • Preferred: established AI-augmented workflow and experience applying AI tools and agentic workflows to improve velocity and quality.
  • Preferred: experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • Preferred: experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows.
