Description

  • Lead a team of engineers and own both delivery and team development.
  • Run regular 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and candid feedback conversations.
  • Develop future leaders, including tech leads, senior engineers, and staff-level ICs.
  • Write and review code and stay actively involved in the team’s technical work.
  • Drive architectural and technical design decisions with senior ICs.
  • Maintain engineering standards through pull request reviews and a healthy release process.
  • Own team commitments, planning, prioritization, sequencing, and delivery.
  • Partner with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams to align scope and tradeoffs.
  • Communicate upward with clear context and manage escalations effectively.
  • Own hiring for the team and maintain a high hiring bar.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles.
  • Hands-on experience coding as part of management responsibilities.
  • Experience building cloud-based SaaS products in production on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience owning availability, cost, and the customer-facing surface of production services.
  • API-first product mindset.
  • Strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery.
  • Deep technical fluency in a primary stack, with the ability to read, write, and review code at a senior level.
  • Track record of visibly improving an engineering team’s velocity, quality, or caliber.
  • Strong judgment under pressure and the ability to make decisions with imperfect information.
  • Direct, candid communication style and a clear philosophy on hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience with AI-augmented workflows and agentic tools (preferred).
  • Experience with more than one cloud provider (preferred).
  • Experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows (preferred).
