Description

  • Lead a team of engineers and own both delivery and team development.
  • Drive continuous improvement through fast iterations and a strong operating rhythm.
  • Coach engineers through 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and candid feedback.
  • Develop future leaders, including tech leads, senior engineers, and staff-level ICs.
  • Write and review code and stay current in the team’s technical stack.
  • Lead architectural and technical design decisions with senior ICs.
  • Maintain engineering standards through constructive PR reviews and a healthy release process.
  • Own team commitments, planning, prioritization, and delivery execution.
  • Partner with Product and a Technical Product Owner on scope, sequencing, tradeoffs, and roadmap alignment.
  • Own hiring for the team and make decisions that maintain the hiring bar.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles with active coding responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience building cloud-based SaaS products in production on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience owning availability, cost, and the customer-facing surface of production services.
  • API-first product mindset.
  • Strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery.
  • Demonstrated ability to measurably improve an engineering team’s delivery velocity, technical quality, or caliber.
  • Deep technical fluency in a primary stack with the ability to read, write, and review code at a senior level.
  • Strong philosophy on high-performing teams, hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making.
  • Excellent judgment under pressure and direct, candid communication skills.
  • Bonus: established AI-augmented workflows and experience with AI tools or agentic workflows.
  • Bonus: experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • Bonus: experience scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows.
