Description

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers on Google Cloud data engineering and modernization efforts.
  • Work embedded within customer teams in a collaborative co-development style.
  • Design, build, and support ETL/ELT pipelines that process large amounts of data.
  • Develop and operate data warehousing, distributed data processing, and streaming data systems.
  • Create and maintain production data platform solutions in public cloud environments.
  • Build and support Spark or Hadoop applications in production environments.
  • Implement workload scheduling and orchestration using tools such as Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
  • Apply modern DataOps practices including testing, quality engineering, and pipeline deployments.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to guide technology decisions and execution.
  • Recommend appropriate tools and approaches across the data engineering ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a comparable engineering role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or a JVM language such as Java or Scala.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases and query authoring.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses, specifically BigQuery or Snowflake.
  • Experience building data platforms on public cloud in a production setting.
  • Preferred experience with GCP-native data tools.
  • Experience building ELT or ETL pipelines for large-scale data processing.
  • Preferred experience with dbt or Airbyte.
  • Experience developing production Spark or Hadoop applications.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer for scheduling and orchestration.
  • Familiarity with DataOps practices and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
  • Experience with batch, micro-batch, and real-time streaming architectures.
  • Strong internal and customer-facing communication skills.
  • Experience with relational database management systems and change data capture (CDC) is a plus.
