Description

  • Establish the AI roadmap and architecture across the assessment tool, care/practice platform, and AI infrastructure framework.
  • Lead production AI engineering efforts for LLM orchestration, clinical NLP, assessment scoring, and AI-generated clinical insights.
  • Build, hire, coach, and manage an AI engineering team that grows from one direct report to 3-4 members.
  • Design and implement scalable AI pipeline infrastructure with monitoring, testing, alerting, and incident response.
  • Review pipelines, troubleshoot orchestration failures, and make model selection and build-vs-buy decisions.
  • Track, analyze, and optimize AI costs, including inference spend, token usage, and per-workflow/per-customer economics.
  • Create observability, logging, traceability, and debugging mechanisms for AI decisions and pipeline behavior.
  • Develop AI engineering documentation, playbooks, runbooks, testing standards, and repeatable processes.
  • Assess and adopt new models, frameworks, and orchestration tools as the field evolves.
  • Establish AI governance practices to support clinical compliance and production reliability.

Requirements

  • 8 to 14 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading AI/ML teams in industry.
  • Proven experience delivering AI products to real users.
  • Hands-on experience with production-scale LLM orchestration frameworks such as Dify, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent.
  • Experience deploying AI in healthcare or other regulated environments and navigating compliance challenges.
  • Strong systems and architecture background focused on scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Experience with agentic AI workflows and AI-assisted coding pipelines.
  • Experience managing and developing teams of 2 to 5+ AI engineers, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring.
  • Excellent English communication skills with an async-first approach and strong written documentation habits.
  • Startup or fast-paced growth experience in uncertain, resource-constrained environments.
  • Preferred: healthcare SaaS experience, including EHR, billing, clinical workflows, or HIPAA.
  • Preferred: knowledge of clinical NLP and behavioral health applications.
  • Preferred: experience building AI infrastructure platforms beyond standalone applications.
  • Preferred: familiarity with observability and monitoring strategies for AI systems.
  • Preferred: experience managing AI cost budgets and optimizing inference costs.
  • Nice to have: understanding of FHIR/HL7 data standards, multi-tenant SaaS AI deployments, SOC 2, mental health or behavioral health, or FDA AI/ML compliance regulations.
