Description

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for accounting and tax systems using SQL, Python, dbt, and Apache Spark/PySpark.
  • Migrate the data platform to Databricks, including rewriting legacy MS SQL Server stored procedures in Spark and Databricks SQL.
  • Build and maintain a Python-based data service with REST APIs and a web UI, from data modeling through deployment.
  • Integrate raw data and external systems into the data platform.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code solutions for data engineering systems.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards.
  • Ensure data quality, correctness, reliability, and monitoring for finance-critical outputs.
  • Conduct code reviews, document solutions, and share knowledge with team members.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related software engineering role.
  • Strong Python skills, including clean, testable production code and REST backend services using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including large-dataset query optimization and experience with T-SQL and MS SQL Server stored procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and PySpark.
  • Experience with dbt, including models, tests, macros, and layered warehouse design.
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse design, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience modernizing and migrating legacy code and data solutions.
  • Knowledge of data quality, monitoring, pipeline reliability, workflow orchestration tools, and CI/CD principles.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering and finance/accounting stakeholders and work to monthly accounting-close deadlines.
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, lakehouse platforms, front-end tools, financial data, streaming, IaC, CDC, or gRPC is preferred.
