Description

  • Own the technical architecture of the agent-readable Shop Builder platform across REST, SDK, MCP, and CLI surfaces.
  • Define and maintain interface contracts for React components, custom block schemas, theme tokens, and data binding formats.
  • Design and lead delivery of the MCP server that enables AI agents to build, deploy, and operate storefronts end to end.
  • Architect the CLI and local development workflow for project scaffolding, local iteration, previewing, and production deployment.
  • Define the deploy, versioning, and rollback model for developer-published content such as custom blocks, themes, and layouts.
  • Design sandbox and preview environments that let developers and agents iterate safely without affecting live sites.
  • Establish the documentation standard across CLI help, developer docs, MCP tools, and AI context.
  • Lead the eval harness architecture used to validate LLM-generated blocks, themes, and layouts before release.
  • Collaborate with Principal and Staff Engineers across payments, auth, live ops, and catalog to surface shared platform capabilities.
  • Set technical standards, review critical decisions, mentor the Tech Lead and engineers, and help shape the team’s technical culture.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • Proven track record as a Staff or Principal Engineer shaping platforms, APIs, or developer tooling used by external builders.
  • Deep expertise in designing and shipping public APIs and SDKs, including versioning, backwards compatibility, and developer ergonomics.
  • Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
  • Hands-on experience building CLI tooling and local developer workflows, including scaffolding, hot reload, file-based config, and deploy commands.
  • Solid understanding of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agentic tool-use interfaces.
  • Experience building systems at global scale on cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.
  • Deep knowledge of containerization, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Ability to write LLM-friendly documentation and reason about schema clarity, predictability, and token efficiency.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, including RFCs, ADRs, and architecture reviews.
  • Comfort operating in a greenfield environment and defining structure from scratch.
  • Nice to have: prior experience in game tech, digital commerce, or storefront platforms.
  • Nice to have: experience building AI-agent-first platforms such as MCP servers, LLM tool registries, or agent eval pipelines.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with Figma plugin/component APIs, design token standards, and design-to-code pipelines.
  • Nice to have: contributions to open-source developer tooling, SDK frameworks, or API standards.
  • Nice to have: background in block or extension marketplace design, including sandboxing and schema validation.
  • Nice to have: published technical writing, conference talks, or other community visibility in developer tooling or AI-native development.
