Description

  • Improve data pipelines through automation and implement quality checks to increase data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Reduce manual intervention in data workflows and minimize processing errors.
  • Migrate legacy systems to new systems through analysis, data transfer, and integration.
  • Support continuity during system migration without disrupting existing operations.
  • Own pipeline reliability, data quality, and outcome accountability.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to explain data issues, tradeoffs, and results.
  • Debug complex data issues and resolve ambiguities independently.
  • Work across engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver data solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred, with equivalent hands-on experience valued.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and environments.
  • Strong SQL skills with data modeling experience for data warehouses.
  • Strong Python skills, especially in notebooks, for building and maintaining data workflows.
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience working with data warehouses used by reporting and business teams.
  • Experience using Git/GitHub for version control in collaborative environments.
  • Understanding of data engineering best practices, including pipeline orchestration, dependency management, data quality, validation, and monitoring.
  • For migration-focused work: hands-on data migration experience including schema mapping, transformation, reconciliation, validation, backfills, historical data handling, and cutover planning.
  • For automation-focused work: experience building and maintaining automated data pipelines with scheduling, orchestration, failure handling, monitoring, and repeatability.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Fabric or the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem.
  • Preferred experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or Fabric pipelines.
  • Preferred experience with data quality and observability practices, performance optimization, modern data formats such as Parquet and Delta, external system integrations, and CI/CD practices for data workflows.
