Description

  • Integrate internal and external data sources, including the data lake, BigQuery, Matomo, Ahrefs, Semrush, and Trakkr AI, into a unified view of content discovery and usage.
  • Translate analytics and trends by geography, project, and topic into actionable narratives for leadership.
  • Develop automated methods to identify under-indexed or missing content in search results and recommend coverage improvements.
  • Define metrics and frameworks for tracking how Wikimedia content is used within large language models and generative search engines.
  • Collaborate with product leaders to define measurable outcomes and instrumentation requirements.
  • Design and analyze experiments, including A/B tests, to evaluate the impact of new initiatives.
  • Interpret website performance data to inform UX/UI improvements and conversion strategies.
  • Provide visibility into web analytics, search trends, content trends, and search recall gaps.
  • Support decisions related to Wikimedia’s enterprise offerings and donor growth through data analysis.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Python and Jupyter for data analysis, statistical modeling, simulation, visualization, and reporting.
  • Fluent in SQL and experience working with large-scale data using Hive, Presto, Druid, and Spark.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports using tools such as Jupyter, Quarto, and Superset.
  • Solid understanding of website structure, user journeys, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Practical expertise in web search SEO/GEO.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of related experience, or Master’s degree plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong statistical judgment to design experiments, identify statistically significant phenomena, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Comfort working in a highly collaborative, remote environment.
  • Familiarity with Wikimedia projects, moderation processes, and communities is preferred.
