Description

  • Serve as lead linguist and subject-matter expert for assigned client accounts.
  • Copy-edit and translate life sciences content, including clinical research documentation.
  • Own and review Simplified Chinese deliveries produced by linguists for assigned accounts.
  • Create, maintain, and update glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.
  • Manage project terminology and language queries and resolve linguistic issues across teams.
  • Coordinate, qualify, monitor, train, and develop freelance linguists and vendors.
  • Recommend language resources based on quality, capacity, specialty, and client requirements.
  • Conduct monthly capacity planning to ensure adequate Simplified Chinese life sciences coverage.
  • Partner with Quality and program teams on linguistic quality assessments, arbitration, client escalations, and root-cause analyses.
  • Respond to client linguistic inquiries, participate in client calls, and improve working processes while meeting productivity and squad goals.

Requirements

  • University degree in Translation, Applied Languages, or a life sciences field such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biology, or Chemistry; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of translation, localization, editing, or content-writing experience, including 4+ years specializing in life sciences.
  • 5+ years of translation review experience.
  • Native fluency in Simplified Chinese and fluent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Simplified Chinese life sciences and clinical research regulations.
  • Experience with clinical research documents such as protocols, informed consent forms, IMPDs, investigational drug labels, and patient recruitment materials.
  • Thorough understanding of localization workflows and machine translation post-editing.
  • Proficiency with CAT tools such as XTM and SDL Studio and query or issue-management tools such as JIRA and Verifika.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn new localization tools and AI tools.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize competing work, coordinate internal and external translators, communicate with clients, train others, and proactively mitigate risks.
