Description

Lead the design, architecture, and development of Waymo's next-generation offboard weather systems and infrastructure.
Provide technical leadership for weather data ingestion, processing, and storage initiatives.
Drive development of real-time and forecasting weather applications.
Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and dependable solutions.
Maintain high performance and stability for systems that support safe fleet operations in diverse weather conditions.
Guide architectural design for next-generation infrastructure for weather-related products.

Requirements

Demonstrated success in technical leadership and architecture of complex distributed platforms.
Deep expertise in data stores, data pipelines, and low-latency real-time data processing.
Experience with overall system design for large-scale infrastructure.
Understanding of stream processing and in-memory data storage solutions.
Proven track record of managing multi-year technical strategies and delivering high-impact outcomes.
Strong communication skills and experience partnering cross-functionally.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Computer Science.
Experience with geospatial information, including raster processing, KMLs, and mapping tools, preferred.
Background in machine learning, especially Vision Language Models (VLMs), preferred.
Prior experience with environmental sensing or weather-related data, preferred.

Benefits

Base salary range of $251,000 to $310,000 USD.
Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program.
Eligibility for an equity incentive plan.
