Description

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of Waymo's next-generation offboard weather systems and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership for weather data ingestion, processing, and storage initiatives.
  • Drive development of real-time and forecasting weather applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and dependable solutions.
  • Maintain high performance and stability for systems that support safe fleet operations in diverse weather conditions.
  • Guide architectural design for next-generation infrastructure for weather-related products.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in technical leadership and architecture of complex distributed platforms.
  • Deep expertise in data stores, data pipelines, and low-latency real-time data processing.
  • Experience with overall system design for large-scale infrastructure.
  • Understanding of stream processing and in-memory data storage solutions.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-year technical strategies and delivering high-impact outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills and experience partnering cross-functionally.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Computer Science.
  • Experience with geospatial information, including raster processing, KMLs, and mapping tools, preferred.
  • Background in machine learning, especially Vision Language Models (VLMs), preferred.
  • Prior experience with environmental sensing or weather-related data, preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $251,000 to $310,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program.
