Description

  • Partner with Engineering to design, test, and deploy ML and Generative AI models and tools that improve issue discovery, triage efficiency, and quality assurance.
  • Use AI-powered insights and triage signals to identify emerging on-road issue trends, risk scenarios, and edge cases.
  • Develop and refine data-driven strategies for issue discovery and monitoring based on ML model outputs.
  • Define and document policies, guidelines, and SOPs that integrate AI tools and insights into vendor workflows.
  • Design and implement quality control processes for human and AI-generated outputs, including meta-quality checks and validation of vendor work.
  • Provide feedback to improve both human performance and model performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Software Quality Operations and support adoption of AI/ML advancements across stakeholders and vendor teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and consultation to improve workflows, identify tool issues, and drive user testing for new tooling features.
  • Escalate issues to engineering and provide technical requirements to support development and deployment of new tools.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively across diverse teams.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in AV Software Quality Operations.
  • Competency across the machine learning development lifecycle, including data preparation, training, validation, deployment, and continuous monitoring.
  • Experience with ML testing and validation, including dataset quality assurance, bias detection, edge-case scenario testing, and performance evaluation using statistical metrics.
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement new concepts and use proprietary tools.
  • Strong understanding of driving rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute strongly and drive outcomes.
  • Experience working with offshore teams or multiple local operations hubs.
  • Basic SQL querying experience.
  • Competency in LLMs, transformer models, or ML for the robotics domain preferred.
  • Experience applying subject matter expertise to results analysis and direct customer consultation preferred.
  • Self-motivated with basic task planning and time management skills preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $120,000 to $151,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s equity incentive plan.
