Description

  • Help build and evolve one or more mission-critical tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, and other engineering teams to develop systems and processes as business needs grow and evolve.
  • Solve hard, real-world operational problems such as fleet optimization, field escalation handling, workshop management, and efficient mileage gathering.
  • Work on cross-cutting technical problems spanning mobile apps, cloud backends, and the Waymo Driver.
  • Partner with functional teams including operations, legal, partnerships, policy, and privacy to deliver business-critical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of backend or infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with backend coding languages including C++, Python, and Java.
  • Experience with C++ or a willingness to learn it (preferred).
  • Passion for working in cross-functional environments that include nontechnical stakeholders (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Google infrastructure such as Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers, and OnePlatform (preferred).
  • Experience with operations tooling, developer productivity tools, developer tools, or SRE/on-call work (preferred).
  • Self-sufficient and product-minded approach to engineering work.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $175,000 to $215,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s equity incentive plan.
