Description

Develop and execute procurement strategy for engineering services and R&D hardware, balancing cost and speed to market.
Manage a high-volume pipeline of outsourced engineering contracts and lead negotiations with engineering design firms.
Structure and negotiate Statements of Work (SOWs), Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) agreements, and related commercial terms.
Optimize Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) and Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) relationships for R&D components and hardware iterations.
Lead make-vs-buy analyses and influence technical requirements to improve commercial outcomes and reduce supply chain risk.
Partner with Engineering, Operations, Corporate functions, Legal, and Hardware leadership on sourcing and contract decisions.
Ensure engineering services and hardware agreements meet intellectual property protection and cybersecurity standards.
Manage multiple concurrent sourcing events for unreleased technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

7+ years of strategic procurement experience, including 4+ years in Engineering Services, R&D, or hardware sourcing.
Deep expertise in outsourced engineering models such as managed services, staff augmentation, and fixed-bid arrangements.
Experience negotiating with Tier 1 engineering service providers.
Proven ability to draft and negotiate MSAs, NREs, JDM/ODM agreements, and technical Professional Services SOWs.
Experience managing R&D hardware lifecycles, including EVT, DVT, and PVT.
Experience negotiating with custom component manufacturers and prototyping houses.
Strong financial acumen and ability to present Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
Ability to operate in a high-velocity environment with multiple high-priority sourcing events.
Preferred experience in a hyper-growth tech, autonomous vehicle, or automotive manufacturing environment.
Preferred engineering background or deep understanding of hardware development and systems engineering principles.
Preferred experience using Ariba P2P, e-sourcing, and spend analysis tools.
Estimated 10-15% travel for vendor QBRs, supplier audits, and HQ visits.

Benefits

Base salary range of $159,000 to $196,000 USD.
Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
Eligibility for Waymo’s equity incentive plan.
