Description

  • Develop and maintain a data processing platform used to extract signals from petabytes of driving logs and simulation traces.
  • Design and build a low-latency streaming data processing platform for real-time identification of critical driving events.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of signal generation infrastructure.
  • Establish service level objectives and reduce operational toil for large-scale data processing jobs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Perception, Planner, and Data Science.
  • Migrate legacy pipelines to modern infrastructure.
  • Support new analytical use cases across onboard and offboard teams.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend engineering, databases, and production monitoring.
  • 3+ years of experience is acceptable for L4, and relevant internship experience is acceptable for L3.
  • Experience leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams is required for L4, but preferred rather than required for L3 and L4 per the posting note.
  • Experience with general-purpose programming languages, especially C++.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Flume, and Spark.
  • Familiarity with stream processing frameworks such as Flink, Flume Streaming, and Kafka.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and reliability engineering practices, including SLOs and error budgets.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $204,000 to $259,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
