Description

  • Own and scale the BESS proposal-to-operation toolchain that converts the BYOC pipeline into deployed megawatts.
  • Translate battery sizing, market participation, and revenue stacking into tools that produce credible and competitive proposals quickly.
  • Build and extend AI-native and agentic workflows across discovery, prototyping, and delivery.
  • Operate hands-on as both product manager and engineer by writing specifications, prototyping solutions, validating with customers, and iterating.
  • Partner with Sales, Energy Markets, Partnerships, and customers to define, prioritize, and ship features that accelerate BESS deployment.
  • Work directly with sales teams and customers to identify pain points across siting, permitting, co-optimization, and delivery.
  • Help drive best-in-class time and cost to design, propose, install, and bring C&I batteries online.
  • Run cross-functional product delivery across the organization to support the full BESS lifecycle from proposal through operation.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in product management, technical program management, product development, hardware development, or a closely related role.
  • Direct experience in battery storage as an engineer, product manager, or developer.
  • Working fluency in co-optimization and how batteries create value across capacity and energy markets.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI agents and AI-enabled workflows, with experience using them to automate meaningful work.
  • Comfort prototyping and shipping products rather than only writing specifications.
  • Strong written communication skills for PRDs, competitive briefs, and strategy memos.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, make decisions with incomplete information, and think analytically at a system level.
  • Uncommonly driven, self-initiated, and motivated to succeed.
  • Experience with BESS procurement, project development, or system integration is preferred.
  • Familiarity with wholesale market mechanics, interconnection processes such as ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, or NYISO, utility tariffs, or inverter/EMS integration is preferred.
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, or exposure to demand response, VPPs, DERMS, or energy-market software, is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada; Voltus does not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires.
