Description

  • Own month-end close schedules for multiple client entities and transition manual reporting into automated, system-driven processes.
  • Lead financial discovery assessments to identify accounting cleanup needs and process improvements.
  • Provide financial expertise and ongoing guidance to clients on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Manage the interface between client leadership, construction teams, and outsourced tax or accounting firms to ensure accurate expense coding.
  • Develop and maintain property-level performance metrics and financial models for institutional equity partners.
  • Strengthen internal controls over cash management, including lien release and waiver tracking.
  • Oversee internal, external, and client staff as needed to support client accounting operations.
  • Support clients on a weekly and/or monthly basis in a fractional controller capacity.
  • Handle multi-entity finance and accounting operations, including outsourced payroll oversight across multiple states.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a Chief Accounting Officer or Controller in private business.
  • Experience as a Controller for growing companies in the construction and real estate development industries.
  • Deep expertise in construction financing and managing bank draws on construction loans.
  • Experience with project-level financials, including Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, budget-to-actual job cost performance, and labor allocation.
  • 8+ years of financial software experience.
  • Sage Intacct and QuickBooks experience are required.
  • Experience with Deltek ComputerEase, Procore, and BuilderTrend is a plus.
  • Expertise in construction accounting methods, including the Percentage of Completion Method (PCM).
  • Experience evaluating banking partners and positioning a company for credit facility or line of credit eligibility.
  • At least 3 years of remote work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with most communication handled through Slack or email.
  • Ability to work remotely from the USA, except in CA, NY, IL, NJ, WA, OR, MA, CT, MN, and CO.
  • Availability to work approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your time zone, with occasional after-hours work as needed.
  • Daily access to a strong internet connection with at least 100+ Mbps upload and 30+ Mbps download.
  • Ability to maintain an organized remote workspace, controlled audio environment, and business casual appearance for video meetings.

  • Starting compensation of $95,000 per year, DOE.
