Description

  • Lead 2–3 day onsite financial discovery assessments with growth-stage CEOs and executive teams.
  • Evaluate financial health, internal controls, and operational bottlenecks during client engagements.
  • Author assessment reports and present actionable financial roadmaps to client leadership.
  • Serve as the lead Controller across a portfolio of recurring clients.
  • Manage month-end close quality, budget and forecast builds, and accounting system optimizations.
  • Step into complex financial setups, identify risk areas, and establish internal controls to make books audit-ready.
  • Direct and review the work of accounting staff and specialized contractors.
  • Partner with Vessel CFOs and Advisors on strategic recommendations and client presentations.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of foundational experience in financial audit, assurance, or risk advisory at a public accounting firm.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-client engagements or corporate financial operations.
  • CPA license is a bonus; inactive CPA status is acceptable.
  • Exceptional ability to facilitate in-person executive meetings and lead complex conversations with composure.
  • High proficiency with cloud accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with comfort adapting to changing travel schedules and a high-volume Slack/email environment.
  • Must currently reside in Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, or California.
  • Ability to travel up to 2 times per month for 2–3 day onsite assessments, plus an annual staff retreat in Southern California.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $105,000–$130,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Up to 10% annual performance bonus.
