Description

  • Create proposals, reports, briefs, appeals, event invitations, and other donor communications for major gift and family foundation audiences.
  • Translate program priorities, achievements, and breaking developments into compelling donor-facing narratives.
  • Combine impact data, visuals, and storytelling to communicate UCS’s theory of change and results.
  • Maintain shared, up-to-date donor-ready program language for Development teams.
  • Coordinate portfolio-wide communications and manage related content, lists, vendors, and mail houses.
  • Produce three to five program briefs annually to support major gift solicitation strategies.
  • Maintain major donor and family foundation proposal and report calendars.
  • Prepare donor meeting briefings and perform copy-editing and other communications tasks.
  • Ensure accurate donor data management and audience coding across communication streams.
  • Coordinate or provide technical direction to staff, interns, consultants, and volunteers on assigned projects.​​​​

Requirements

  • At least 5–7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including at least 5 years of development writing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable training and experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success writing compelling and successful proposals and reports.
  • Experience managing complex projects, multiple priorities, deadlines, and detailed follow-through.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, planning, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and constituent databases.
  • Major gifts or foundation fundraising, direct donor contact, solicitation, and donor tracking experience preferred.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Mission CRM, Lexis, Microsoft Dynamics, or DonorSearch preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationally, including overnight trips, up to 15%, and occasionally work nights or weekends.
