Description

  • Review architectural and mechanical drawings to extract relevant measurements and specifications.
  • Translate technical drawings into detailed insulation requirements for pricing and quoting.
  • Prepare take-offs using PlanSwift or AutoCAD and organize supporting documentation.
  • Compile accurate PDF quotes and ensure proper tagging, risk checks, and internal sign-off before submission.
  • Validate estimates against project type, timelines, internal capacity, and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with project and operations teams to clarify scope, confirm feasibility, and support tender follow-ups.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing shifts that may affect insulation cost structures and competitiveness.
  • Contribute ideas to improve estimation processes and tools as the business grows in the New Zealand market.
  • Perform other position-level duties as required.

Requirements

  • Experience using PlanSwift or AutoCAD.
  • Proven estimating experience in the construction or mechanical services industry.
  • Plumbing or HVAC estimating experience is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding or supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect errors or omissions in drawings and estimates.
  • Competence in Excel, PDF editors, and document formatting for professional quote submissions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and client interaction.
  • Familiarity with insulation materials, mechanical insulation systems, and their applications across commercial and industrial projects is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of relevant building codes, insulation standards, and compliance regulations in New Zealand and Australia is a plus.
