Description

  • Build and operate the team’s services in a distributed production environment used by millions of customers worldwide.
  • Collaborate with team members and the wider organization to solve complex distributed computing problems.
  • Redesign backend services to improve scalability and support growing system demands.
  • Strengthen service security to address evolving threats.
  • Deliver solutions that improve the customer journey and provide insight into the health of customers’ email programs.
  • Develop new product offerings for the email platform.
  • Mentor, guide, and influence more junior engineers on the team.
  • Communicate technical ideas effectively to executives, peers, and other stakeholders.
  • Continuously identify system improvements and balance technical debt with feature development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience building highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and maintainable distributed systems for mission-critical applications.
  • Strong experience with Golang, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated track record in service ownership.
  • Operational excellence mindset with experience using metrics and alerting to monitor resilient systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with the ability to present vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical and leadership experience, including leading technical decisions and cross-functional initiatives on large-scale projects.
  • Experience leading initiatives related to monitoring, performance and capacity planning, security, and disaster response.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience delivering software using Containers/Kubernetes, preferred.
  • Experience with Kafka data pipelining, preferred.
  • Experience with MySQL or AWS Aurora database systems, preferred.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure, preferred.
