Description

Drive a customer-focused culture that prioritizes high availability and reliability for customer-facing services.
Manage, motivate, and support a team of SRE engineers based mostly in Ireland.
Coach and mentor engineers to support career development and sustained high performance.
Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to modernize software stacks and improve operational readiness.
Partner on best practices for building, testing, and operating services at scale in AWS environments.
Contribute to technical deep dives and help size engineering investment for modernization and service enhancements.
Develop and drive a technical roadmap aligned with Platform Engineering goals and quarterly objectives and key results.
Use metrics, SLIs, and SLOs to identify gaps in systems, services, and processes and implement fixes.
Lead post-incident reviews and ensure follow-up actions improve response to service failures.
Perform periodic audits and risk assessments to improve service security and reliability.
Increase automation to reduce toil and manual intervention in deployment and operations.
Promote leadership principles and help develop the next generation of leaders.

Requirements

5+ years of management experience, including 3+ years leading a Reliability Engineering team.
Proven track record of managing and responding to incidents.
Experience with reliability modeling in distributed systems, including failure mode analysis, chaos engineering, graceful degradation, and automated recovery.
Operational experience with complex distributed systems and defining, measuring, and monitoring SLIs and SLOs.
Experience building and managing systems using Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and Terraform.
Ability to think at scale and apply continuous delivery methodologies from design through deployment and operations.
Strong product and architectural vision with the ability to communicate, advocate, and execute on it.
High degree of ownership and customer obsession.
Experience building and sustaining high-performing teams through clear communication, mentoring, and coaching.
Strong influence and persuasion skills to manage tradeoffs between right vs. right now engineering decisions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience working in multi-functional teams and making decisive decisions when needed.
Experience operating large-scale, low-latency Java-based systems in production across multiple regions or data centers, preferred.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience, preferred.
