Description

  • Monitor data platform infrastructure and pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and identify root causes to prevent repeat issues.
  • Build, review, and deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Write Python, bash, and CI/CD automation to reduce manual toil and improve platform reliability.
  • Help design and operate access controls and governance across cloud, warehouse, and BI platforms.
  • Build, operate, and troubleshoot data pipelines and transformations that support reporting, analytics, finance workflows, and data products.
  • Support the migration from the legacy stack to the modern data platform, including validation, cutover, and decommissioning.
  • Write runbooks, platform documentation, and operational guides to improve knowledge sharing and reduce bus factor.
  • Work with Claude Code-based AI tooling, including agents, skills, hooks, and MCP integrations, to improve engineering workflows.
  • Participate in production support, incident response, vendor coordination, and after-hours or on-call coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience operating workloads in AWS or another major cloud provider.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for automation, internal tooling, platform workflows, or data engineering support.
  • Working knowledge of SQL; advanced SQL is a plus but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool, including code review and safe deployment practices.
  • Comfortable with Git-based workflows, pull requests, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based deployments; EKS experience is especially valuable.
  • Ability to use logs, metrics, and alerts to investigate failures and identify likely root causes.
  • Familiarity with RBAC, IAM, least-privilege access, or other governance controls.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call and after-hours support as needed.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote-first team.
  • Experience with vendor support, production incidents, and severity-based escalation is preferred.
  • Experience with tools in the broader stack such as Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow/MWAA, Kafka, DataHub, Looker, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or GitHub is a plus.
