Description

  • Own day-to-day administration of the Azure IaaS environment including virtual machines, networking, storage, key vaults, and virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Manage identity and access services including user lifecycle, role-based access control, conditional access policies, multi-factor authentication, and single sign-on integrations.
  • Administer and maintain SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instances, including patching, performance monitoring, and availability management.
  • Lead endpoint management for Windows 11 and Android (Zebra) devices via Microsoft Intune: policy configuration, compliance enforcement, app deployment, and device rollout support.
  • Operate and optimize Microsoft 365 services and the integrated security suite (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender) to maintain productivity and security posture.
  • Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, and enforce security baselines across server and endpoint fleets.
  • Execute and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures; participate in DR testing and respond to unplanned outages.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to reduce manual operational overhead and streamline operations.
  • Document system configurations, architecture decisions, change history, and maintain operational runbooks and runbooks for the team.
  • Participate in shared on-call rotation, support planned maintenance windows and off-hours patching, and act as an escalation point for infrastructure issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration in production environments.
  • 4+ years of Azure IaaS experience (VMs, virtual networks, network/security groups, storage, key management, virtual desktop platforms).
  • Strong expertise with Entra ID/Azure AD concepts including RBAC, conditional access, identity governance, and hybrid identity scenarios.
  • Production experience administering SQL Server and/or Azure SQL Managed Instances including patching and performance monitoring.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for infrastructure automation and operational tooling.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint) and familiarity with the Microsoft Defender security suite.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewall concepts, VPNs, routing).
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritize without daily direction, and communicate clearly in English with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Preferred: hands-on Fortinet (FortiGate/FortiManager) experience, Microsoft Intune policy authoring and endpoint management, vulnerability management experience within the M365 E5 stack (e.g., Defender Vulnerability Management), and prior Zebra or rugged Android device deployment experience.
  • Preferred certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, SC-300, MS-102 or equivalent. On-call expectation: participation in a shared rotation (~1 week every few weeks) with occasional off-hours maintenance.
