Description

  • Support the development of Compute Platform components, including embedded compute, data logger, LiDAR, radar, camera, microphone, IMU, and power distribution systems.
  • Lead functional safety design discussions across hardware, software, validation, and operations.
  • Derive safety requirements and ensure system architectures and designs align with safety concepts and best practices.
  • Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) to define and refine safety goals.
  • Perform safety analyses such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA).
  • Collaborate with Sensors and Base Hardware teams and automotive Tier-1 suppliers on safety analysis and deliverables.
  • Maintain requirements databases in DOORS and Jama with accuracy and traceability.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies against safety requirements in partnership with the Component Enablement team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in an automotive-related field.
  • Experience developing functional safety requirements.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 26262 (FUSA) and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
  • Broad understanding of engineering fundamentals across software, networking, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with functional safety analysis processes such as HAZOP, FMEA, STPA, and FTA.
  • Ability to apply functional safety concepts in novel ways to L4 autonomous driving applications.
  • Strong written and verbal engineering communication skills for explaining complex technical issues to diverse teams.
  • Willingness and ability to work across teams, geographies, and time zones.
  • Software or hardware engineering experience (preferred).
  • Experience with LiDAR, camera, radar, or other sensor modalities (preferred).
  • Experience with motion control systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Jira (preferred).
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles or ADAS safety concepts (preferred).
