Description

  • Learn ACT Power Services’ North America generation SCADA architecture and project development and implementation process.
  • Assist with engineering analysis, design reviews, modifications, and upgrades for solar renewable energy projects.
  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA systems for solar PV assets.
  • Support the development of site UI/UX in Ignition and Power BI dashboards.
  • Become familiar with the company cyber security framework and support compliance across solar projects.
  • Learn to program and test SEL protection relays and SEL-3530 RTACs under senior guidance.
  • Assist with PLC hardware configuration and basic maintenance for Siemens and Emerson/GE PLCs.
  • Practice basic PLC ladder logic and functional block programming.
  • Use object-oriented programming to support team automation tasks and performance monitoring tools.
  • Assist with commissioning checks, signal checkout activities, documentation, and test procedures for SCADA communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Controls Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Computer Programming Engineering, or a related technical field; recent graduates are welcome.
  • 0–2 years of industrial automation exposure or internship experience, ideally with some exposure to the power sector.
  • Academic or internship familiarity with SCADA platforms such as Ignition and Cimplicity.
  • Foundational exposure to PLC programming through coursework or hands-on projects, including Allen-Bradley, ABB, GE/Emerson, or Siemens systems.
  • Basic understanding of industrial protocols such as DNP3, MODBUS, and OPC.
  • Exposure to Kepware (KEPServerEX) is a plus.
  • Python experience is a plus.
  • Strong desire to learn substation automation, protective relaying, and renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Ability to learn and apply engineering design requirements that comply with NERC-CIP, UL, IEEE, and ISA standards.
