Description

  • Design and organize the autonomy program’s data lake, including schema definitions, partitioning strategy, and metadata indexing.
  • Build and maintain end-to-end pipelines that ingest high-bandwidth sensor logs from vehicles into cloud storage.
  • Implement data validation, integrity checks, retention policies, tiering, and lifecycle management for autonomy data.
  • Build tooling to query raw logs and produce curated training and evaluation datasets.
  • Create automation for pseudo-labeling workflows and metrics that help prioritize labeling effort.
  • Deploy and maintain data visualization tooling for log review, annotation QA, and autonomy debugging.
  • Build integrations between visualization tools and the data lake so engineers can trace from dataset entries or model failures back to source logs.
  • Work with autonomy engineers to define custom visualization panels and dashboards for data coverage and operating-environment analysis.
  • Establish data contracts between data services and model training consumers.
  • Partner with perception, planning, and embedded engineers across logging schemas, dataset interfaces, and the data lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus 4+ years of data engineering experience; or a Master’s degree plus 2+ years.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience building production-quality data pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud data infrastructure, preferably AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift) or equivalent.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Solid understanding of data partitioning strategies and columnar storage formats such as Parquet or ORC.
  • Experience building and operating data pipelines for time-series and binary data.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate open-source tooling when appropriate.
  • Strong instincts for data quality, including monitoring, validation, and lineage tracking.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other sensor-driven autonomous systems is preferred.
  • Deep experience with Foxglove or Rerun, including custom extensions or workflow integration, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the MCAP CLI and/or Python library, including converting MCAP data to columnar formats, is preferred.
  • Experience with ML data curation, including diversity sampling, pseudo-labeling, and dataset versioning, is preferred.
