Description

  • Own and maintain the master compliance calendar across all entities, filings, deadlines, and external providers.
  • Drive weekly compliance reviews and escalate at-risk items before deadlines are missed.
  • Coordinate global VAT filings, including data collection, consultant follow-up, return review, and timely submission.
  • Oversee U.S. state tax compliance, including payroll tax returns, franchise tax filings, and annual reports.
  • Coordinate annual corporate filings such as director filings, KYC renewals, registered agent renewals, and office renewals.
  • Oversee direct tax compliance, including CIT returns, advance tax payments, TDS filings, TRC applications, 1099 filings, and FBAR reporting.
  • Manage consultants, local providers, and auditors by reviewing engagement letters, negotiating fees, tracking SLAs, resolving disputes, and escalating underperformance.
  • Coordinate entity lifecycle actions such as incorporations, closures, share transfers, org chart changes, and related sign-offs and registrations.
  • Track regulatory changes across tax, employment, and corporate law and update internal documentation and processes accordingly.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing documentation and filings across jurisdictions, ensuring intercompany arrangements and reporting obligations are prepared on time.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of annual statutory financial statements across jurisdictions.
  • Produce a monthly compliance and reporting report for executive leadership covering filing status, overdue items, deadlines, risks, and close status.
  • Identify opportunities to automate compliance and reporting workflows and partner with the Controller on process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business.
  • 3-5 years of similar compliance experience.
  • Startup experience is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of VAT/GST mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. state tax compliance.
  • Working knowledge of corporate income tax coordination and statutory annual filings.
  • Ability to review and challenge filings without necessarily preparing them personally.
  • Strong experience managing external consultants and negotiating fees.
  • Strong written communication skills for frequent correspondence with auditors, consultants, regulators, and executive leadership.
  • Comfort using automation and LLM tools to reduce manual work and propose new workflows.
